Currently, The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan. More than halfway through it now, on chapter thirty-something. And to think, I've got 10 or so more books to look forward to in this series!

i am reading 'the shadow of the wind' by carlos ruiz zafon. can't wait for the 2nd sequel!!

The Dragon Reborn now, the first few chapters in. Hoping to finish everything up to Towers of Midnight by the end of this year...and by god, I WILL!!!
Though in between those books I've been reading a lot of Lovecraft....love pulp horror!!!

Finished Redshirts the day it came out because Mr. Scalzi was coming to my town the next day. Wonderful read, I really recommend it.
I'm currently 1/4 of the way through John Dies at the End by David Wong. This book is nuts-o bananas. Every chapter is chock full of crazy-ass scifi/fantasy ideas. Stuff happens in a few pages in this book that would be the entire plot or enemy of others. Fantastic, dense read.

I am reading the Gateway series by Frederik Pohl, currently on book 2, Beyond the Blue Event Horizon. It was long on my "to read" list but was repeatedly pushed to the side by more recent releases. I am glad I finally got to it because it has been excellent so far. The first book was full of ancient alien artifacts, perilous space missions, and an artificially intelligent psychoanalyst.

I finished Beyond the Blue Event Horizon. It was every bit equal to the first book. I was particularly intrigued by the hard science cosmological ideas often presented by an artificially intelligent simulation of Albert Einstein as an advisor to the main character. Now for book three, Heechee Rendezvous...

Those are good books. Thanks for reminding me how much fun it was to read them.

Just got back from Vacation and finished 'Redshirts', '1Q84' and two non genre books.
Redshirts is very funny in a Galaxy Quest riff on Star Trek kind of way. There are three 'Codas' at the end only the last of which IMHO really works
1Q84 is very surreal. You have to peel the story back layer on layer, mystery on mystery. A woman finds her destiny when she is drawn into an Alternate 1984.
The other two were Jeff Shaara's "Blaze of Glory", so so story of the Battle of Shiloh and The Richard Castle Nikki Heat "Heat Wave" from the Ghost Writer for the ABC TV show
