    Welcome to the forum, Pajchi.

A lot of the worst evil I've seen done was by people who weren't conscious of what they were doing. It's genuinely scary. Someone who's consciously doing evil might decide to do something else instead, but the oblivious ones will just keep going.

I agree with the original poser on the diner psychopath at the end of Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes. That whole story was extremely disturbing.

The Weeping Angels from Doctor Who haunt me, they scare me in a claustrophobic 'get me out of here' way. I can't be around statues anymore, they're just far too creepy.

Also, the Joker in 'The Dark Knight Returns' freaked me out. His final scene in that book is just a horrible image, makes me shudder.

Weeping Angels from Doctor Who and the "pale man" as someone put it, from Pan's Labyrinth. If I think of any others I'll let you know.

To me, the most frightening monsters have always been the most plausible ones. Additionally, make it unseen, nearly unstoppable, and possessive (loss of autonomy - I find that creepier than being eaten).

So I suppose I would consider the nano creatures in Greg Bear's short story "Blood Music" to be about as frightening as they get. I don't know if others would consider them monsters, but I found the story as scary as any I have read.

Some creatures from the Silent Hill series freak me out as well, like the legs creatures. Just a lil' unsettling..

Demons and dopplegangers, when you no longer have control over your own life, and you know it.

And the Nothing, but that will have to wait because I haven't written that story yet.
